Beginning in early September, signs of fall foliage can be seen in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. Summer's green leaves begin their
gradual change to brilliant reds, yellows, oranges and purples, culminating in a parade of world-renowned color during the Fall Foliage season.
The Burke area's spectacular fall foliage is managed by Mother Nature so times vary slightly each year based on weather conditions, but a lovely show of color is always assured.
There's no better time to see the Northeast Kingdom than during the Fall Foliage season. Recommended foliage driving routes are in abundance -- pick
up a map of some well-documented routes at a general store or ask some of the locals for their suggestions. The Northeast Kingdom's untouched landscape and an abundance of
sugar maples (with their bright orange leaves) makes for a spectacular sight-seeing expedition.
You won't want to miss East Burke's annual Fall Foliage Festival! Held yearly on the last Saturday in September, the foliage festival showcases local arts and crafts,
homemade pies and goodies, local brews, and good food. There are plenty of activities for the kids, including the parade and games.
