There's so much to do in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom, and all of it is very accessible from East Burke, a small New England Village located in the
geographic center of the Kingdom. In fact, some of the Kingdom's best recreation takes place in Burke, itself, and other opportunities are just a short drive away!
East Burke is perhaps best known among outdoor enthusiasts for Burke Mountain Ski Resort, one of two alpine ski mountains in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom. Burke
Mountain has a rich history -- it is the site of the oldest ski training school in the country, Burke Mountain Academy. Many Olympic Skiiers have started their careers
training on Burke Mountain. In spite of this, the Mountain retains a relaxed, uncrowed atmosphere, perfect for anyone who wants to spend more time skiing and less time
waiting in lines.
More recently, East Burke has been gaining a reputation as the home of Kingdom Trails, a 100 mile trail network that extends throughout East Burke and nearby towns. These
trails are known internationally for their awesome mountain biking, but they are also used for hiking, nature viewing, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Kingdom Trails
Association, with its office in East Burke village, maintains the trails and keeps them well-marked and mapped. Day Passes and Season Passes for trail use are available
at their office.
For snowmobiliers, Vermont's Northeast Kingdom is a dream. The VAST trail network criss-crosses throughout the region, connecting with other parts of Vermont, but acre for acre,
the Kingdom has more VAST trails than any other region of Vermont. Trail Access in East Burke is less than a mile from Kingdom Ridge, so you can be on the trail and enjoying
your snowmobiling adventure in no time. The trail through East Burke is conveniently located adjacent to a gas station, two general stores, and two restaurants.
Many folks think of Burke when they think of Fall Foliage. East Burke village hosts an annual Fall Foliage Festival on the last Saturday in Septemeber, an event that kicks-off serveral other
fall foliage festivals in the region. The event features great food, local crafts, music and a parade. Kingdom Ridge is walking distance from the center of the village.
